Sharp distance sensors are one of the most frequently used sensors in robotics. This unit is a complete, built-in distance sensor that uses infrared signals. Distance is represented by an analog signal in the range of 0-3V. The sensor measures by triangulation method, thanks to which it is not prone to the color and size of the object being measured, as well as the influence of the external light. The sensors have a 3-pin connector type NXG-03 (NX plug, 2mm pitch, 3pin). The distance of sensor operation is from 10 to 80 cm. Measurements of the shorter distance are also possible, although the result is not clear (see application note, page 3).
